Is the AHDS Performing Arts Licence Form (http://www.ahds.ac.uk/performingarts/depositing/licence.htm) the licence I need to play music in my shop/dental practice/reception?
No. This is a template agreement between AHDS Performing Arts and the people who deposit their digital collections with us. It is not licence for any other purpose. You DO need a licence to play commercial music or radio in your business premises and you can get this licence from the Performing Right Society. A factsheet about playing music in public can be found here: Playing Music in Public. More information is available from http://www.prs.co.uk/musiclicence/ or by calling the PRS's freephone number: 08000 68 48 28. Tariffs vary a lot depending on the nature of the business and music being played, however, if you call the PRS they will email you all the information you need.
Can I use an image from your collections in my Website/book?
It depends. Each of our collections have different rights attached to them, almost always held by the creator(s) of the collection rather than AHDS Performing Arts. Some allow free use of items within the collection for educational purposes, others do not. In all cases, the rights holders will be detailed in the collection record. You can find this by navigating to the collection from http://www.ahds.ac.uk/performingarts/collections/index.htm, choosing 'More Info', and then 'Find out more from the AHDS collection record for this resource'. Copyright information for the Designing Shakespeare collection can be found at http://www.ahds.ac.uk/performingarts/collections/designing-shakespeare.htm#additional.
